The main objective of the project is development of models, methods and a platform for adaptive intelligent distributed mobile information services support:
1. By adaptive information services we mean ability of the service to adapt to the users, service providers and communication context. In particular,
We consider service personalization as ability of the service to adapt to user interactions and to predict the users needs for information (in addition to ability for explicit service customization) and to keep privacy of user preferences.
Service should be able to adapt to different providers by allowing negotiation and information exchange.
Service should be able to adapt to the context of communication such as a geographical location, time, computational environment etc.
2. By intelligent information services we understand ability of service to employ planning, reasoning and knowledge processing in order to satisfy the users requirements. An important intelligent feature of the service is its pro-activity - ability to predict users needs and to take initiative. The pro-activity of the service should be based on exploiting and (when it is not available) building the user and/or service provider models by using machine learning and inductive inference techniques.
3. By distributed information service we mean that components of the service system can be distributed across the network and that service can be composed from these components.
4. By mobile information service we assume that both users and service providers can employ mobile devices such as cellular phones and PDAs for requesting/provision of an information service.
